Welcome to the Music part of our website.  We are proud to be able to say that music is part of  everyday learning in our school.

Intent, Impact & Implementation:

Intent

Music is a powerful and unique form of communication. It impacts the way we feel, think and act and helps the body and mind work together to increase self-confidence and a sense of achievement. Music is all inclusive and every child will have the opportunity to explore their own musical journey with our intent being to unlock musical potential in everyone to develop into well-rounded, knowledgeable individuals. We will ensure that our children are engaged and inspired to develop a love of music and encouraged to reveal talent as musicians by always listening, singing and performing.

Impact

The music curriculum is broad, balanced, linked to all other subjects and with clear progression between year groups. Pupils are encouraged, regardless of ability, to learn to work both independently and as part of a group/ensemble, choir or orchestra regardless of age, ensuring skills of resilience and teamwork throughout the school. Children are enthused and engaged in a wide variety of musical activities both in school and in the wider community to ensure they understand its significance and place within the wider world and that these excite and inspire children's thirst for knowledge and participation in this subject.  

Implementation

Our music curriculum is strong and inter-woven throughout all subjects.  It is enhanced with extra-curricular projects across each year group to ensure spiritual, moral, social and cultural experiences ensuring life lessons.  We have partnered with the London Youth Choir, the London Chamber Orchestra and their Music Junction Project.  The London Childrens Ballet Company.  Music for Wellness in conjunction with Harrow Music Hub.  The Bb project learning Trumpets & Clarinets.  The London Philharmonic Orchestra's Brightsparks project and continue to welcome new projects each year.
