GIFTED INTERVENTION SPECIALIST
Keri Campbell
My name is Ms. Keri Campbell. I am the Talented and Gifted Intervention Specialist at East Knox Elementary. I graduated from Ashland University. I have been teaching for 32 years. The last four years, I have worked with the Talented and Gifted students in grades 3-6 in Math and Reading. I also provide enrichment activities for 2nd graders.
For Math, I work with students on skills and concepts that are one grade level higher than the grade they are currently in. I motivate my students to work hard at their own pace and achieve a higher understanding of the math concepts we work on during our group time.
For Reading, I work with students on higher depth of knowledge questions using higher reading level books or texts. We work on Novel Studies, Genius Hour Passion Projects, Living Wax Museum Projects, STEM activities, and some group work with Kenyon Mentors.
CLASSROOM TEACHERS WITH GIFTED CERTIFICATION
The teachers listed below are individuals who pursue additional gifted education training and collaborate with the Gifted Coordinator, a service from the Knox ESC, to ensure the classroom curriculum is embedded with higher-level questions, exploring topics and material with depth, complexity, and offers enrichment opportunities. Due to the above and beyond commitment from these individuals to pursue this certification, the district can formally report them as gifted service providers and gifted-identified students in their classrooms are provided a Gifted Written Education Plan (WEP), in collaboration and support from the Gifted Intervention Specialist. It is important to note that this is not required by The Ohio Department of Education and is a credited to the school district's effort to benefit all learners in the classroom.
