How to structure a speech or a presentation here
Ask ChatGPT to provide a general structure for a speech. Does it look reasonable?
Next, ask it to structure a speech on the company you presented to me and Martin.
Now, ask it to structure a speech critical of the company.
Lastly, ask it to structure a speech on the company's CSR strategy.
What conclusions can we draw from this excersise?

Ethos, pathos and logo explained here.
Let us play a game and see if you can spot which is which.
In pairs, find one YouTube clip with a speech sequence reflecting each mode of persuasion well. Post your clips in this document.
Individually, write one strong argument on each mode of persuasion. The topic is "School without homework".
One side of the classroom is pro (positive), the other neg (negative).
Let's DEBATE!
Statement
Person A from the pro side states his/her argument, you have 2 minutes. Start your argument with "This house is pro school without homework because..." The rest of you listen carefully to be able to respond appropriately.
Rebuttal
Person A from the the negative group has 1 minute to prepare a rebuttal. Start your argument with "This house is neg to school without homework and therefore I refute your argument..." You have 2 minutes to state your rebuttal AND your argument. The rest of you listen carefully to be able to respond appropriately.
Rebuttal
Person B from the the pro group has 1 minute to prepare a rebuttal. Start your argument with "This house is pro to school without homework and therefore I refute your argument..." You have 2 minutes to state your rebuttal AND your argument. The rest of you listen carefully to be able to respond appropriately.

The model explained here.
First, let us watch the YouTube clip for a brief explainer.
Now, try to see if you can identify the parts of these arguments? Is it a good or bad argument? Why?
The legal age for drinking should be lowered since I’ve been drinking since age fourteen without problems. What works for me should work for everyone else.
The Electoral College should be abolished because it gives small states undue influence. No individual state(s) should have undue influence on presidential elections. Presidential candidates focus their campaigns on states with comparatively large electoral power and neglect many other states.
Lastly, look at Toulmin's model for argumentation and write an effective argument for:
Stop shopping fast fashion (Shein, Zara, H&M etc)
Stop flying and travel by train instead
Now, try to persuade your neighbor with your "speech",
Afterwards, analyse together what went well and what could be improved.
Next it is your neighbor's turn to give their speech and together you analyse it.
