Like Steven, I think it is a good idea to always be creating something and doing it yourself. There are a lot things you can do yourself instead of paying someone else to do it. Creativity can open your brain up to new things, help you in other parts of your life, and can even save you money.
I also think that creativity and trying new things all the time gives you more opportunities. I have followed my creative instincts from Landscaping to Ecology to Linguistics to Design. Where will I go next?
UnGoogleability
I am very interested in the ideas of ungoogleability and radical creativity. What is the first thing you do when you come across something new? Google it? That's what I do.
What I try to do with some of the projects in Design is make them ungoogleable. If they are ungoogleable...then you are responsible for 100% of the creativity.

Prevent Art and Design Deficiency
Prevent ADD
With this piece of guerilla art near the school I've been inspired to write occasionally about the importance of preventing Art and Design Deficiency (ADD). No idea who made it, but it is made with little iron beads (アイロンビーズ) that a lot of kindergartners use to. I am not a huge fan of disposable plastic but I am a fan of art and a huge fan of guerilla art! A big thanks to whoever did this. It has inspired me. Guerilla art, as long as it is not damaging anything in the process, is some free art until removed.
