Train Departure Melody!
The government of Japan, JR, and the private rail lines are having a nationwide competition. One lucky station will a special personalized TDM. You will make an animation in Scratch that will convince the judges why your chosen station is the best. You will also make 3 original TDMs with a few interesting guidelines for the judges to choose from. You will have to make an exciting, fun, entertaining, and educational animated video in order to win. Good luck!

Description
The contest has begun! The Japanese government is holding a train departure melody (TDM) contest. One station will be able to update and get a unique TDM. In this unit students will research a station's area make some TDMs that fit. They will learn the basics of programming using the free online Scratch programming language and do research on why some stations have an original melody and others have a shared melody. Students will also have to use the basics of melody, tempo, etc, and what is the best balance for a TDM. Students will have to make the design report convincing...they need to prove why the station deserves a special melody.
