In this session we will look closely at practices that are still commonly used in schools that research indicates aren’t very effective and in some cases, harmful to learning. We will share insights from the meta-analysis done by John Hattie and others to evaluate familiar habits across the range of education practice (instruction, assessment, lesson design, etc.) that the research identifies as problematic and suggest positive alternatives that better support student growth.
