Grades, assessments and feedback are some of the dread words of a teacher. But in the end they are inevitable. But are teachers creating too much work for themselves while also producing little to no meaning in return? Join Emily Chandonnet as she presents on "Providing Effective Feedback and Assessments" where she will test your grading process and implore you to add a little bit of math, logic and creativity to your assessment and grading procedures. Come prepared to share your own grading methods, and work to define the debatable topic: "What do grades truly represent?"
This sectional is intended for anyone interested in improving their grading process along with discussing assessment and feedback variations. While examples will stem toward upper elementary and high school ideas, the topics would also be applicable to lower elementary.
Emily graduated from MLC in 2013 with a double Major in Elementary and Communication Arts and Literature Education. In 2018 she earned her Master's in Curriculum and Instruction for Adolescent Literacy from Concordia University. She served as a tutor for three years at MLS, and as a middle school teacher in Palm Coast, FL. KML has been her home for three years where she teaches American Literature, World Literature, Creative Writing, and Speech.
