Language learners have the fundamental goal of using another language to understand others and express their own thoughts to others in purposeful communication.
KML’s World Language Standards–adapted from the Wisconsin State Standards–are written in a user-friendly format, divided into sections which focus on interpretive, interpersonal and presentational communication. We have also added a spiritual focus which is an important aspect of our language learning. Beyond the theoretical, each section has a place for teachers to reflect on class specific indicators/ activities that support the standards.
In today’s session, we will share the standards and give some time for participants to reflect on their own curriculum, noting specific activities done in class that support the standards. It may be helpful for participants to bring a curriculum guide with them.
