Before Returning to Work
A few days before we return in August, please charge your device fully. If you do not use your device over summer, the internal battery will be dead.
If your KISD laptop has been off of the KISD network for months, you haven’t received updates. So, BEFORE you're ready to work, it is a really good idea to take your laptop to any KISD building and restart your computer so that you get the updates. You don’t have to go inside, you can just pull into the parking lot close enough to be on the Wi-Fi.
Reimage Your Computer
You will need to reimage before the new school year begins. The Cube will be happy to reimage your computer starting <DATE TBA> You can drop off your tablet any time that is convenient for you, and allow at least 1 hour before you return to pick it up.
If your device needs repairs that a Restart doesn’t fix, you need to submit a Service Desk Request and take your device to The Cube.
Restoring your files from Back-up or Google Drive File Stream.
Pinning programs to your task bar/creating shortcuts on desktop.
Open upon Start-up (steps are the same for any link or program).
Remember, teachers can access ALL of previous year's courses under Archived Courses. New courses are expected to appear <DATE TBA>.
All new staff will have access to Schoology when HR finishes your paperwork. Current teachers will continue to have access to Schoology but may see last year’s campus if they have changed campuses. This information will be updated on the weekend of <DATE TBA> when HR rolls over for the new year.
Remember, Skyward will create your Schoology courses for you, and teachers will have the ability to link courses (combine all like classes by prep).
The district folder structure (Quarter folder followed by Weekly folders) will continue this year with ALL folders for the entire year being pushed before school starts. This folder structure is required by the district for a universal look and navigation for students and parents. Keep this in mind as you build/transfer content to your courses.
Continue to work in your Personal Resources or your Practice Course as you prepare for the new school year. As soon as your classes are created, you can transfer content from last year's archived course(s) - you MUST save to Resources first (you should have done this already at the end of last school year) then transfer to new courses.
Remember to UNPUBLISH all content not needed for the current grading period.
Schoology Parent Portal - All parents will have access to Schoology courses through an automatically generated parent login. Parents will have read-only access to only their child's content. **If a parent has an issue with accessing Schoology or navigating your course, please direct them to KISD's FamilyNet, where there are resources for parents in a variety of languages.
See the Schoology tab above or KISD Digital Learning for helpful Schoology resources.
Digital Learning will be updating resources from <DATE TBA> with a completion date of <DATE TBA>. Then they will update the DR Rollout Communication document as resources become available. Please check this document every time you find yourself asking, “When will I have access to …” as it'll be updated daily.
