Overview

A-Level Literature is a challenging  but highly intriguing subject that encourages students to develop opinions, arguments and ideas about challenging social, moral and ethical issues. Students will complete close readings of texts from Shakespeare to Tennessee Williams, participate in seminar-style discussions and write essays about what they have learnt. They will not only learn to appreciate Literature from a range of cultures and historical periods, but gain an ability to articulate their point of view with perception.

Assessment

Paper 1: Drama and Poetry (50% AS Level, 25% A-Level) 

Paper 2: Prose and Unseen (50% AS Level, 25% A-Level) 

Paper 3: Shakespeare and Drama (25% A-Level) 

Paper 4: Pre- and Post-1900 Poetry and Prose (25% A-Level)
