A Performance Based Assessment (PBA) is a real-world, industry problem-based or design-based culminating challenge that assesses students' knowledge and skills of a CTE pathway program. The challenges, developed by local industry partners, ask students to develop a solution or product and present their ideas to the industry professionals.
Each Windward District high school holds a preliminary PBA round where students are given the challenges for their area of study. An industry professional is present to judge students' solutions or products, and an oral presentation. Judges select one team of students to advance to the Windward District Academy for CTE PBA event.
These school-level finalists then present their final products to the industry partner who assisted in developing the challenge.
