Caregivers Raising Resilient Children
This month, the counseling office facilitated a caregivers’ workshop on raising resilient children. Caregivers shared their parenting experiences, and their vital role as buffers who absorb children’s stress and anxiety was emphasized. Participants were reminded that effective discipline is not about control or fear, but about guiding behavior with empathy and consistency.
Consistency, in particular, is essential for creating secure attachments that help children feel safe and valued. Drawing on Bowlby’s secure attachment theory, the workshop underscored the importance of fostering trust, while Bandura’s social learning theory reminded us that children learn by observing those around them. Positive caregiving not only nurtures resilience but also prepares the mind for lifelong learning and the ability to form healthy social relationships as children develop.
Participants were reminded that children are like clean slates, ready to be shaped by caregiver influence. To conclude, resources to support reflection on parenting styles were shared.

Meet our Primary Headboy and Headgirl
We are proud to announce our new Head Boy and Head Girl for the 2025-2026 academic year!
After a very exciting week filled with leadership speeches, thoughtful votes, and inspiring interviews, we are thrilled to share that Hridhaan Raval has been chosen as Head Boy and Riya Kotecha as Head Girl. Congratulations to both of them!
The process began on Monday the 1st September, when all the candidates bravely stood before their fellow students and gave heartfelt speeches explaining why they wanted to be leaders and how they would serve the school. After the speeches, students across Primary cast their votes.
Later in the week, shortlisted candidates were interviewed by a panel of teachers, who were impressed with the students’ ideas, confidence, and dedication to school values.
Finally, the big announcement took place in Friday’s celebration assembly. Parents of the shortlisted candidates were invited to attend, and we shared in the proud moment as Hridhaan and Riya’s parents were welcomed on stage to pin their Head Boy and Head Girl badges.
We are confident that Hridhaan and Riya will be fantastic role models and represent the school with pride and responsibility. Well done!

🌸 The With Love Project 🌸
A KISU Community Initiative
The With Love project was born from an idea while traveling in South Africa earlier this year. After reflecting on it, I decided to shape it into a truly KISU initiative.
💜 Community in Action
A huge thank you to all the students, staff, and parents who are already part of this wonderful effort! Together, we are knitting and crocheting blankets filled with warmth, colour, and care.
During the school day you can see this project come to life:
- Staff adding a few rows during their tea or lunch breaks.
- Students chatting and knitting together during break times.
- Even on school trips, students keep themselves busy on long drives with their knitting needles and yarn in hand!
Every stitch is a reflection of our community spirit.
🎁 Our Goal
We hope to knit and crochet as many blankets as possible to hand out before the end of term in December.
- First delivery: To children in the Oncology Ward at Mulago Hospital.
- If we have surplus: To a center supporting babies in need.
🙌 How You Can Help
Your support is still very much needed! Here’s how you can join in:
Knit or crochet a blanket square (any size, any colour).
Donate yarn, needles, or hooks.
Join our lunchtime or break-time knitting circles.
Every contribution—big or small—brings us closer to wrapping children in warmth and love.
❤️ Every Stitch Makes a Difference! ❤️

The Back to School Family Picnic was a day filled with laughter, fun, surprise performances, and wonderful opportunities for families and friends to connect. The school grounds came alive with the perfect atmosphere of community and family bliss.
🍔 Food & Treats:
Our DP students did a fantastic job running a hot dog stand and selling the most divine biscuits, raising impressive funds for the day.
The Primary Student Council’s ice cream stall was such a hit that it sold out twice!
The Cooking Club students delighted everyone with their fresh popcorn.
Children ran around happily while parents enjoyed catching up, chatting, and relaxing together. It truly was a celebration of community spirit.
🍦 Giving Back:
The Student Council’s ice cream table, run by Ms. Daniella and a group of dedicated volunteers, went beyond just serving sweet treats. The proceeds raised were contributed to the With Love project, and the funds were handed over on the day.
A big thank you to everyone who came along, supported, and made the event such a warm and memorable success! We hope to have more family gatherings in the near future.
