Messy and Fun Play
This month in Early Years has been filled with engaging, messy, and fun activities!
The children explored a variety of hands-on experiences, including peeling and chopping bananas, creating balloon prints with paint, and conducting colour-mixing experiments to discover secondary colours—just like magic!
It was wonderful to observe their development in hand-eye coordination, communication skills, and teamwork throughout these activities.
Well done to each and every one of you!

Our Gruffalo adventures have been a highlight of the month in Reception! The excitement begins each time the children discover a new letter from the Gruffalo, delivered at the gate to Mr. Richard. Their faces light up with curiosity as they gather together to hear what challenge or activity he has set for us.
These special letters have sparked a wide range of learning experiences. The children have:
• Drawn detailed pictures of the Gruffalo and the other characters from the story.
• Illustrated and created story settings, imagining the deep, dark wood in their own unique ways.
• Retold the story using a story map, building confidence in sequencing and storytelling.
• Brought the story into their play by making “Gruffalo crumble” in the sandpit, mixing imagination with hands-on fun!
Through these activities, the children have not only deepened their love for the story but have also strengthened important skills such as creativity, communication, and collaboration. It’s been wonderful to see how engaged they are—each new Gruffalo challenge feels like an adventure waiting to be explored!

The Gruffalo in Reception!
Show and Tell in KG3 – Why we do it?
Friday mornings in KG3 are synonymous with something very special, a little exercise we call show and tell. Each friend is invited to bring something from home, that they would like to share with their friends. - Show and Tell benefits kindergarten children by building their communication skills, such as vocabulary and articulation, while also developing their confidence and public speaking ability.
Show and Tell fosters crucial social-emotional growth by promoting attentive listening, patience, and respectful audience behavior. This structured activity also enhances the children’s ability to organize thoughts, share personal experiences, and form connections with their friends and teachers, ultimately supporting their overall early education.
When one of our friends is unable to talk about what they have brought, we usually engage them in conversation by asking questions about the item they have brought from home. - Usually show and tell can present itself in various shapes and sizes. Often times children bring something from home which serves the whole family. Or they would engage a group of friends to demonstrate something which they learnt in gymnastics, ballet or karate.
Recently one of our friends, did a traditional dance for us and we had lots of toys and objects from other countries. This fun activity makes for hours of entertainment and everyone is welcome to share their thoughts and ideas.
