3 DA writers
The 3DA writers have been hard at work, moving through every stage of the writing process to create their own original rainforest fables.
From brainstorming and drafting to editing and publishing, their pencils kept moving and their ideas kept flowing!
Our focus wasn’t just on crafting engaging fables tied to our Rainforest Topic study — we also worked on using fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases to make our writing more descriptive, cohesive, and enjoyable to read.
Come and read our fables! Each story shares an important moral to guide you through life, such as:
-The importance of true friendship
-Being a real friend, not a fake one
-Listening to wise advice
-And how rushing can lead to dangerous consequences
We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed writing them!

In our first meeting, we discussed our vision for the year: Bringing Communities Together. Through thoughtful conversation, we explored what this theme means to us and brainstormed ways to unite all parts of the school—from Early Years to DPs—through school events, spirit weeks, and community outreach programs.
The Student Council is eager to turn these ideas into reality—so watch this space for what’s to come!

A 'Perfect' Experience
Inspired by our shared class reading A Place Called Perfect, the students in Year 5FS had the opportunity to try on the magical ‘rose-tinted glasses’ that make everything appear perfect! The Archer brothers, in true fashion, rewarded their most loyal friends in Perfect by sending us the newest version of these glasses to test. Through them, we saw familiar places – our classroom, a playground, and even a football field – transformed into something amazing, despite being in complete disarray at the time.
Activities like this open a window to creativity through role play, encouraging imagination and helping students to visualize concepts without the need for real-life objects. They also provide opportunities for reflection and critical thinking, as students link situations they are experiencing with ideas inspired by the books they are reading. This engaging activity deepened the students’ enjoyment of the story and made them fall even more in love with the book!

This month, KS 2 students focused on collage and pottery, exploring a variety of materials and techniques. They also developed their understanding of Van Gogh’s distinctive style. It was fascinating to witness how thoughtfully the students reflected on their learning and expressed it through their work. I was particularly impressed by the unique style each student brought to their creations.
Well done, everyone!

Year 3MN Class Assembly
Year 3MN presented their class assembly on the theme of the rainforest. The children shared all the amazing learning they have been doing and showed just how much they have discovered.
They began by explaining the importance of the rainforest climate and how it helps the whole world by producing oxygen, regulating temperature, and giving us many useful resources. The children also reminded us that rainforests are sometimes called the lungs of the Earth and that it is everyone’s responsibility to look after them.
The class then took us on a journey through the different rainforest layers, the emergent layer, canopy, understory and forest floor. Each group described what could be found in their layer from towering trees and thick vines to colourful flowers and camouflaged creatures.
Everyone enjoyed listening to the children talk about their favourite rainforest animals from sloths and jaguars to toucans and poison dart frogs.
The assembly ended with a powerful message about protecting rainforests for future generations. Year 3MN truly impressed everyone with their confidence, teamwork, and knowledge.
Well done!

Matter Matters: Year 4 Explores Science
This month, Year 4 has engaged in an exciting series of hands-on science investigations. In our States of Matter unit, We have investigated how matter can change through its different states. Students melted chocolate to explore how heat can transform a solid into a liquid. Using dry ice, they observed both sublimation (solid turning into gas) and deposition (as the water vapour frosted on the surface), gaining first-hand experience of these less common state changes - an experiment that truly wowed the class.
We also investigated whether gases have weight by experimenting with soda – and discovered that, indeed, they do!
In our Water Cycle lessons, students witnessed evaporation and condensation using a simple jar of water, then brought their learning to life by creating beautiful posters and shadow boxes depicting the journey of water through our environment.
These hands-on activities not only helped students understand key scientific concepts but also sparked curiosity and excitement for further exploration. Year 4 has shown creativity, teamwork, and a real love for investigating the world around them!

🎉 Our very first Primary Student Council fundraiser of the year was an incredible success — we SOLD OUT of ice cream not once, but TWICE! 🍦🍦
Thanks to your amazing support, we raised over 100,000 UGX to help buy more yarn for the With Love blanket project. 💖🧶
A huge shoutout to everyone who donated, volunteered, or showed up to support — you made this happen! Let’s keep the momentum going! 🙌✨
