Hello everyone,
We have finally completed term 2. I want to extend my warmest congratulations to each and every one of you for successfully navigating through the term. Despite the scorching heat, it's a relief to see temperatures finally cooling down as we eagerly anticipate the Easter break.
A special welcome to our new students who have found a welcoming home here at KISU. Your presence enriches our community, and we are thrilled to have you with us.
I'm delighted to share some highlights from the past week. In this last week, we have had our students take part in the World Scholars Cup at a national level from which they qualified to the global level. We wish to congratulate them and wish them the best as they go to the next stage.
Additionally, our sporting achievements have been noteworthy, with our U16 boys emerging as champions in the ISSAK basketball competition. Well done to all who contributed to this success.
Term 2 also marked the establishment of our new student leadership body, led by a Head Boy and Head Girl, alongside their deputies and class representatives. Their influence on the student body is already palpable, and we look forward to seeing their continued impact.
So, as we reflect on this term, let us enjoy the break and come back fresh because term 3 will be short and very busy.
To our Year 11 and DP2 students, who are gearing up for their final examinations, know that our thoughts are with you. Your dedication and hard work will surely yield great results.
On behalf of the secondary leadership team, I wish you a happy Easter holiday and may you find the time to enjoy the things you like to do.

When one embarks on a journey overseas with 28 students two things come to mind, one that they are crazy to undertake such a task or that they are really very organised and that they have everything in place. That was us when we decided to take the students to Dubai for Model United Nations. The truth is we are neither crazy nor are we super organised that we had everything in place. What we knew was that what MUN gives you is worth losing a few days of sleep and some hair, so we were inspired.
MUN is a simulation of the United Nations where students represent a country as delegates to various committees discussing various issues. This year, the theme of the conference was Innovating Towards a Sustainable Future. The conference ran from 1st Mar to 3rd Mar but we left on 28th Feb and returned on 5th Mar. This gave us the opportunity to participate in the conference and take in the sights and beauty of Dubai.
In an era driven by technological advancements and innovation, the role of science and technology in shaping our future cannot be understated. The United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (UNCSTD) at DIAMUN 2024, based on the UN Summit Of The Future, recognizes the paramount importance of harnessing these forces for sustainable development, justifying its inception. Such were some of the issues at play in the conference. With committees like the General Assembly, the Youth Assembly, Human Right Commission, World Health Assembly, UN Women and many more, our students were engaged throughout the 3 days of the conference but on the side, there was a lot of fanfare and shopping happening.
Conveniently residing at DoubleTree by Hilton which is right next to the Emirates Mall, we had the opportunity to hit the mall whenever we wanted, no wonder we came back with no money but lots of goodies. (we hope you got yours). If you ever visit Dubai and you do not visit Atlantis Aqua park, then you have missed out, in which case, find us and we will tell you all about it including the Desert safari, the Dhow cruise on the Marina and experiencing what Dubai will be like in 2071 when we checked out the museum of the future.
Coming back was hard but we had to after all, East or West, home is best.
We extend our greatest gratitude to our parents who enabled this trip to happen and everyone involved in planning, supervising, covering and backing us up. If there is one take home from this, it is that young people need to embrace all opportunities to voice their opinions on what they want their world to look like and MUN offers such opportunities.

Year 7 Duologue Showcase
On Tuesday we had our Year 7 Duologue Showcase, where the students performed the scenes they had written, acted and directed themselves. From foolish assassins, to half-humans-half-mermaids, to angry footballers and rebellious orphans, the event showcased the Year 7 imaginations! Thank you to everyone who came to support!
