Celebrating a successful Term 2!
Dear Parents, guardians and students,
I am sure that I am not the only one who is ready for a well-deserved end of term break! Term 2 has passed by quickly and I am immensely proud of the individual and collective development of our IB students. This term has been incredibly successful and our students have been challenged to not only focus on their academics, yet consider their holistic development through various CAS opportunities.
CAS Opportunities:
Throughout Term 2, our DP1 students have been actively fundraising for the DP2 Prom. The Prom will take place on Saturday 18th May after the final DP2 examinations have concluded.
In addition, our DP1 and DP2 students have been fundraising for various community-based projects, including supplying food donations to a local orphanage and the collection of funds to support communities in need during Ramadan. These efforts not only raise funds for important causes but also demonstrate the values of compassion and social responsibility that are integral to the IB program.
Below are some images of our DP1 students painting the Welsh flag for our International Day (Friday 12th April).
University Offers and Acceptance Rate:
I am delighted to announce that every DP2 student who applied to university has received offers from both their first and second choices. This achievement is a testament to their dedication and the high standards of education we uphold at KISU. Furthermore, our exceptional 98% acceptance rate to universities worldwide is a testament to the hard work and commitment of both students and our faculty.
IB training and professional development
At KISU, we are committed to continual professional development. On Friday 22nd March, five of our IB teachers participated in IBO training at the Aga Khan School. The event, facilitated by Kognity, an IBO-approved online teaching and learning platform, comprised of two workshops. These workshops centred on topics such as predicted grades, internal assessments, and transdisciplinary teaching. Notably, this event attracted IB teachers from various parts of the globe, allowing our staff to exchange pedagogical insights and best practices with educators worldwide.
In the past two months, three of our colleagues have attended subject-specific online IB training. Congratulations to Mr. Thomas Sindayigaya, Ms. Jorgelina Orihuela, and Mr. Ismail Nsubuga!
IBDP Options evening
On Tuesday 26th March, we held our annual IGCSE and IBDP options evening. The event was successful and both students and parents interacted with our teachers to discuss the next stages of their education at KISU.
For our Year 11 parents/guardians and students, I have attached a copy of the IB presentation and the subject selection sheet below.
As a reminder, the deadline for subject selections is Friday 12th April.
