KISU Newsletter (549)
March 2024
March 2024
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we draw March to a close, I am compelled to reflect on the flurry of activities and events that have vivified KISU throughout this month. It has indeed been a period teeming with engagements, learning opportunities, and cross-cultural exchanges that have both enriched our school community and underscored our commitment to providing a holistic and globally minded education.
This month, we were honoured to host visiting delegations from South Sudan and Japan. These groups, eager to learn more about our distinctive approach to education and the ethos that underpins our learning community, provided us with a opportunity to share the innovative practices and educational philosophies that make KISU a beacon of learning excellence. These interactions have not only served to strengthen our international ties but also to reaffirm our commitment to fostering a learning environment that is both inclusive and globally aware.
Amidst these enriching exchanges, KISU has been abuzz with a series of events that have showcased the talents, passions, and academic prowess of our students. The Lower Key Stage 2 Production was a testament to the creativity and dedication of our young performers and the staff who supported them. Science Week sparked curiosity and wonder, leading students to explore and marvel at the mysteries of the scientific world. Reading Day at Rainbow International School, the Choir Festival at ISU, and World Languages Week were all resounding successes that celebrated the joy of learning, the beauty of music, and the diversity of languages and cultures that enrich our school community.
Looking ahead, Term 3 promises to be equally bustling with activities and learning opportunities. To ensure you are well-informed and able to participate fully in the life of the school, I encourage you to visit the 'Coming Up' page of this newsletter for important dates and details of upcoming events.
I am also thrilled to announce the overwhelmingly positive response to our proposed ski trip to Switzerland in February 2025, open to students currently in Year 4 and upwards. This adventurous excursion promises to be an unforgettable experience, combining physical activity with the breathtaking beauty of the Swiss Alps. Parents interested in registering their children for this trip are kindly asked to complete the registration form here.
As we prepare to welcome the start of Term 3 on Monday, 8th April, please be advised that there will be a public holiday on either Tuesday, 9th April, or Wednesday, 10th April, in observance of Eid al-Fitr. The school will be closed on this day, and we will communicate the exact date as soon as it is confirmed.
In closing, I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and engagement with the school. Your involvement is crucial to the success of our students and the vibrancy of our school community. As always, we value your feedback and encourage you to reach out to me directly should you wish to share any thoughts, concerns, or suggestions.
Thank you for being an integral part of our journey.
Warm regards,
Lee Wilson
School Director
Every year, as part of the natural cycle of educational careers, some of our teachers decide to pursue new professional challenges beyond the confines of KISU. This year, we have been particularly proactive and have already completed the recruitment process for our new colleagues, ensuring a seamless transition for our students and community. The map to the left illustrates the diverse home countries of our incoming educators, highlighting the international mosaic that KISU prides itself on. Reflecting our global ethos, our new colleagues hail from a variety of backgrounds, bringing a rich tapestry of experiences and perspectives to our school. We are excited to start introducing these new members of our KISU family during Term 3. Please stay tuned to our social media accounts for updates and introductions, as we eagerly anticipate the fresh ideas and energy they will bring to our community.
