Spring has sprung in Year 1, and our creative buds have been blooming! We embarked on a journey to capture the beauty of cherry blossom trees in art class.
First, we learned all about these magnificent trees, their cultural significance around the world, and how artists throughout history have been inspired by their delicate flowers.
Our artistic adventure unfolded in three parts:
1. We started by focusing on the structure of the tree. With pencils in hand, the children meticulously drew the trunk and branches, capturing the elegant form of the cherry blossom.
2. Once the drawings were complete, we donned our artist smocks and mixed different shades of brown to create the tree's trunk and stems. These masterpieces-in-progress were then left to dry, building anticipation for the next step.
3. The final stage brought bursts of color! We used a bunch of cotton swabs dipped in a beautiful pink paint mixture to create the iconic cherry blossoms. The children explored light and dark shades of pink, creating a stunning effect.
The results were truly impressive! We were so proud of how the children listened attentively and followed instructions, translating their newfound knowledge into stunning cherry blossom artwork. Their masterpieces brightened up the classroom with a touch of springtime magic.

Tuesday, April 23rd, was the highlight of our week! We got to dress up as our favorite book characters. Choosing just one was tough, but we managed!
Our morning kicked off with excitement as we designed a door display to showcase our love for books. There was a small debate - some of us had different ideas. But, like true bookworms, we talked it out and came to a fantastic compromise. Our door ended up being a brilliant mash-up of everyone's creativity!
Next, we had the privilege of buddy reading with our Year 4 friends. They even gave us a sneak peek of the KS2 outdoor area, where we'll be exploring next year! (Yes, you heard that right - Year 3, here we come!) Needless to say, our imaginations were running wild, picturing all the adventures that await us in August.
But the day wasn't over yet! The grand finale was a trip to Mr. Lee's office for a special story time. We snuggled up on comfy cushions and listened with wide eyes as Mr. Lee read us a chapter from "LEFT ALONE" and another from "UNICORN ACADEMY." After that, it was a quick dash back to finalize our amazing door display.
What a day! It was filled with fun, friendship, and of course, a whole lot of reading!

In April, our KS1 students embarked on an enriching trip to Acacia for English Day, accompanied by 8 enthusiastic children, 6 from Year 1 and 2 from Year 2. They showcased exemplary behavior, representing the school with pride. Activities included a captivating puppet show featuring "Puppet Friends," engaging phonics games, story sequencing with "Penguin," immersive reading sessions, and crafting narrative stories. Witnessing the creativity and talent of our students during narrative writing exercises filled us with immense satisfaction. It's evident that we're nurturing tomorrow's leaders with care and dedication. Our commitment to holistic education ensures that each child flourishes academically and creatively, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
