April 2024
Director's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
April was a wonderfully busy month, filled with celebrations and learning opportunities that have brought our community closer together.
We kicked off with our International Day, a highlight on our calendar, where we celebrated the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our school community. It was a joy to see students, parents, and staff sharing their heritage and traditions in such a colourful and educational way. I am proud to say that it was another successful event, highlighting our unity and diversity.
April also marked important global observances with Earth Day and Book Day, both embraced enthusiastically by our students and staff. These events are pivotal in fostering a sense of responsibility and a love for reading among our young learners, and your support in these initiatives has been invaluable.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting week to anticipate. Our annual Art Jam promises to be an inspiring event, showcasing the incredible talents of our students. This event is open to all, and I warmly encourage you to bring friends and family to experience the creativity of our school community on Saturday 11th May. Additionally, we will be hosting the PTA Movie Night, which is always a great occasion for family fun and relaxation. This is on Thursday 9th May.
Please note that the school will be closed to all students except those sitting for their IGCSE or IB exams on Friday, 10th May. Both Art Jam and the exams will also continue on Saturday, 11th May. Following a directive from the Ministry of Education and Sport, I must remind all parents that it is important for all children to be at home on the evenings of the 10th and 11th May.
On another note, the deadline for deposits for our 2025 Ski Trip to Saas-Fee, Switzerland is approaching on Monday, 12th May. This is an incredible opportunity for our students, and I urge you to secure your child's place as soon as possible.
Lastly, our students have been participating in a series of UK-based external assessments. Many of you will have already received results from the CAT4 and New Group Reading Tests (NGRT), and soon, the Progress Tests in English, Maths, and Science will follow. Should you have any queries or need further clarification on these assessments, please do not hesitate to reach out to any member of our Senior Leadership Team.
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school's activities. Your engagement is essential to the success of our events and the enriching experience we strive to provide at KISU.
Warm regards,
Lee Wilson
School Director.
