KES' Curriculum Fair is an event where standards-based work is displayed for the public to view. This event takes place every other year. The work shows how students apply skills and concepts learned. Visual displays are created by individual students or groups who have worked collaboratively to complete tasks. Projects include, but are not limited to: poster boards, Google presentations, videos, models, and student made books. Parents and the community are invited to view the displays. A mailbox is available for parents to leave comments to their child, reflecting on the displays.
Students in our Robotics Program are able to compete in the First Lego League and VEX programs. Student practice teamwork and complex thinking skills as they work to solve problems, program robots, and engage in public speaking opportunities. Students in Grade 3 also compete in the First Lego League.
Students in our iMaC club and GT/Enrichment classes are able to compete in the Olelo Youth Xchange Video Contest. Students work in groups to produce a short video that addresses various community issues. Students write the script, create props, act, rehearse, film, and edit their videos.
