Fourth Class studied the force of gravity and talked about weight and how creating air resistance can affect how a parachute falls. We had races but the winner was the person who's parachute landed last!

Children in "Seoda" our ASD unit were investigating circuits!

Third and Fourth Class made lava pumpkins.

They drew on a face, half filled with water, mixed in orange food colouring, filled jar with oil and added in Alka Seltzer.

Second class enjoyed creating friction by rubbing the balloon on their hair to try and move the ghost shaped tissue in time to the spooky Halloween music.

Children from our ASD unit 'Seoda' watched a video all about sound & then they explored how sound travels & the sound jars make when filled with different amounts of water!

Recognising and identifying a variety of sounds.

Seniors and First made shakers with different materials; rice, coins, marbles, a bouncy ball. Children had to guess what was inside each. They then explored making loud and soft sounds with their shakers.

Fourth Class looked at forces. The first is gravity, which pulls the helicopter toward the ground. The second is air resistance, which pushes up on the helicopter as it falls. The faster the helicopter is falling, the more air resistance pushes on the helicopter. We added paper clips to see this.

First class mixed different solutions of oil and water, water and food colouring. They discovered oil and water do not mix. They then used water, oil, alka zelzer and food colouring to create lava lamps

Junior Infants were busy investigating if items would float or sink when placed in water.
