Physical Education at King Ethelbert School

What we offer at KS3/4/5

We offer a wide variety of physical activities through core PE. A strong emphasis is placed on Health Related Exercise. This will help to develop an understanding of the importance of health and fitness. With this knowledge, students can make informed decisions that will affect their health and well-being.

Qualifications at KS4 and KS5

We currently offer examination courses in GCSE Physical Education and a vocational option of BTEC Tech in Sport, Activity and Fitness. Both of these courses combine theory elements alongside physical activity.

We offer two routes to continue the study of Sport in the Sixth Form:

Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Sport and / or IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science. Both courses offer an excellent progression route into a potential career within the world of Sport.

Extra curricular activities in the P.E Department

Extra-curricular activities are a fundamental part of the development of physical activities. We offer a wide variety of enrichment and engagement activities that help students develop the skills learned in curriculum activities. There are opportunities to participate competitively in inter house and inter school competitions as well as participation and play activities. These clubs, rotating through activities, run throughout the school year at lunch time and after school.
