6th Grade Woodland (2023-2024)

Project #1

6th Grade

1 point perspective house drawing

The students created a  house in one- point perspective.  They used a ruler, pencil, paper, eraser and a vanishing point.  The vanishing point is used when drawing in one point perspective so that everything going back towards that point gets smaller.   Then all objects on their drawing look realistic because everything is the correct size.  The students were able to add many different features to their house such as:  siding, bricks, patio doors, sidewalks and other basic elements of a house.

-The Elements of Art we have covered are:

 Color, Line, Shape and Space.

Project #2

6th Grade

Ceramic Slab Project

The students learned a different clay building technique called Slab. The students kneaded and flattened a piece of clay out by hand, without the use of any tools. After they had flattened their slab out they used another clay technique called carving, in which they carved out shapes and images into their slab. The students then built walls around their slab to make a cube, cylinder or rectangle. The students used wire tools, needle tools, modeling tools, fettling knives, ribs and ceramic sponges to create their design on their slab.

The Elements of art we have covered are:

Color, Form, Line, Shape and Texture.

Acrylic Painting

The 6th grade students learned how to create an acrylic painting. The students learned how to mix many different colors as they were creating their painting.

The Elements of Art we have covered are:

Color, Form, Line, Shape, Space, Value and Texture.

The 6th grade students created a three dimensional object out of different size wire. They created it from different gages and colors of wire. They used many different techniques of wrapping wire with pliers and their hands to create their metal sculpture. The sculptures needed to be interesting all the way around (no dull areas).

The Elements of Art we have covered are:

Color, Form, Line, Shape, Space and Texture.

Sheet Metal

The students have created many different patterns that they have carved into a piece of sheet metal. The students are performing an old technique of bending and shaping metal called: Repousse. Repousse or metal tooling is a metalworking technique in which a bendable metal is ornamented or shaped by hammering from the reverse side. The students used a variety of wood tools, modeling tools or the end of a marker to shape their metal.

The Elements of Art we have covered are:

Color, Form, Line, Shape, Space, Texture and Value.
