Watch the videos above and practice identifying the letters and letter sounds. Below are some fun ways to review letters/letter sounds:
I Spy Letters or a Letter/Sound Hunt
Use sidewalk chalk and write letters on the sidewalk/driveway. Then call out a letter or say a letter sound and have the student find and stand on that letter.
Make letters with playdough
Use magnetic letters, alphabet beads, or alphabet blocks to identify the letters/sounds.
While watching the movie practice counting along by 1s to 100.
You can also practice:
Counting backwards from 10 and any from any other number less than 10
Counting by 10's to 100
Making groups of 10 to 100 (using cereal, coins, ...)
Counting a set to 20 using one to one correspondence (Have students touch and move each item to ensure they know which ones they have counted and which ones they haven't.)
Sing along to the days of the week and months of the year!
Can you name the days of the week and months of the year?
Using a calendar, can you identify what day of the week today is? tomorrow? and yesterday?
Teen numbers can be tricky for students. Sometimes they write the numbers backwards (21 for 12). Remind students teen numbers always start with a 1.
Can you name all the teen numbers? (11-19)
Write a bunch of numbers (teen numbers and not teen numbers) on a paper. Have your child circle or highlight all the teen numbers.
Name a teen number and have your child write it.
Watch the money video and practice doing the following:
Identify the four coins and their values (penny, nickel, dime, and quarter)
Describe the four coins (front, back, color, size)
Tell how many pennies are equivalent to a nickel, dime, and quarter (Ex. 5 pennies can be exchanged for a nickel)
