Our Mission: The Shafter High Modern Language Team commits to our students that we will put student learning first by fostering a PLC that is driven by data and collaboration. We commit to not taking data results personally and sharing regardless of student performance as long as data sharing is focused on student success and not individual teacher performance. A shared DATA folder will be created for accountability and future reference. We commit to continue to attend professional development opportunities and share with department members and apply new learned strategies that will help strengthen our craft and increase student performance. We commit to having a growth mindset, especially when it comes to enhancing our craft. We commit to having common learning tools throughout the department in order to reduce teacher and student stress and maximize teacher preparation time, allowing for more teacher availability for individual student support. We commit to build a community that includes counselors, administration, and other language teachers in the district, that we can depend upon when students are struggling. We commit to having a department shared folder that will include common learning tools to be used as needed.

Our Vision: The Shafter High Modern Language Team is committed to collaborating as a PLC and SAT to optimize student learning in such a way that each PLC member feels comfortable, safe, uplifted, and confident in sharing ideas, opinions, and best practices so student learning is our number one priority. The Shafter High Modern Language Team also commits to consistently sharing ideas during every meeting where student learning will be the focus of our PLC.
