One of the most daunting tasks after you have started building a Virtual Room is considering what resources you would like linked in your room. Sometimes you start with a list of links and decide that a Virtual Room might be the best way to put all of those links in one place while other times, you start with the design of your room and are looking for meaningful and relevant links to include.
CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT! Always make sure your purpose and content are at the center. Look for a variety of resources (videos, interactives, text, etc.) that fit your content needs.
Explore the list of curated resources: Virtual Relaxation Room Resources for resources (or inspiration) related to creating relaxation rooms.
Reach out to your PLN and ask others to share student-facing content resources that they have used before.
Search online for other resources that fit your specific content needs.
Pro-tip: To make sure that your resources or links in your room are UDL aligned (as discussed on Day 4), include a variety of resource types.
Running low on copyright-friendly elements/objects to include in your room? Check out the resources on this Build Your Bitmoji Classroom Template!
Want to make static images a bit more dynamic? Check out images on giphy.com to embed in your room to show movement or direct attention to a specific element, object, or resource.
Do you want to include a check-in form as part of your room (through a Google Form or other tool) where students can reach out to you if they need to help?
Explore the Virtual Room below and think about how you might use a room like this type of room with your students. What kinds of resources do you find in the room/rooms shared below? Why is having a variety of resource types important to incorporate into your Virtual Room?
Starting today, you will have the opportunity to take what you learned and create your own Virtual Room. Each day your work will build upon the previous day and at the end of the course, you will have a Virtual Room you can use with your students.
👀 Look back on the elements/objects that have incorporated into your room to this point. Continue adding any as necessary.
🔗Continue linking some of the objects you have placed in your room to websites or activities. Research online, reach out to your PLN, or browse the resources provided to identify links that are relevant to your Virtual Room.
