Skechnotes, sometimes visual notes, graphic recording, or content-driven doodling, are a way of connecting the verbal and visual worlds. It allows the person taking notes to convey thoughts and ideas with text and pictures. There are many benefits to this method of note-taking for students, specifically that it allows them to personalize their content comprehension, process language through images, and build confidence. Sketchnoting can be done at any level by simply encouraging students to doodle images that correspond to a word!
There are so many possible implementations of using sketchnotes with students. Check out the presentation here for more ways to utilize sketchnotes with your students (if you are unable to view the presentation, please click here).
