STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) is one of my personal passions. Not only do I love seeing how students collaborate together to create, I also love infusing it into different aspects of my life! The great thing about STEAM is that it does not have to be something that is reserved for elective/Specials teachers - it can be for any K-12 teacher! Also, by tapping in to your students' strengths and encouraging them to explore content through their interests, not only are you creating a responsive learning environment, you are creating learning that will stick.
But today is not about STEAM. It is about YOU.
The implementation side of today is going to be about you. I guess you can say "BEYOND" was misspelled and I should correct it to "PASSION." What are your passions? What gets you excited to do something or learn something new?
When we think of what educators do each day, essentially we are selling content to students, hoping they will buy our product. We can turn that statement around a bit and look at it as though we are selling our PASSION for the content with our students. And that is what makes education so much more than selling a product, there is a LOVE and PASSION behind it. If we can elevate whatever we are teaching through our passions, our students will see that, see US in a different light, and be drawn into the content because of our PASSION.
Below I am showing sharing a few websites that share a little more about my passion (STEAM) when it comes to teaching. Feel free to share these with students as well - I created them for that specific use!
