I am not sure what it was about turning thirty a few years back that made me suddenly care why my eyelashes never seemed to impress with mascara alone. It could be a sudden reality of getting older, or that the trend was to have the biggest doe looking eyes that just captured attention, but regardless it started to form a new insecurity for me that perhaps I wasn't doing enough in my glam routine ergarding my eyelashes. But here is the kicker, I hate having to have routine up keep that relies on appointments or frequent appointments that are costly.
Both of my boys have amazing eyelashes, like strangers out in public comment on how blessed they both are. Of course, I know genetically it was coming from somewhere but I guess I never even considered it was my side of the gene pool.
It literally never occured to me they might have actually gotten them from me.
So I knew me and eyelash glue were probably never going to work out. Insert mental image of me gluing my eyes shut, cause I would totally do that. So I did some research into magnetic eyelashes and the pros and cons, ultimately settling on Moxie lashes as a trial run. These actually worked quite well for me for about 2 years, but as I lost weight they seem to not stick they was I wanted them too, or would start off strong but in time start to come loose through out the day. They are a great starter adventure for those of use that may not be the most expert on applying false eyelashes. My favorite suddle pair can be found here in the link below. As well as their magnetic eyeliner, and makeup remover swabs which just simplfiy the process even more at night. As a side bonus tip my favorite make-up remover is by CeraVe, I know I worship their products, but its a balm and is gentle and effective, especially for eye make-up.
Other note worthy magnetic option is Glamnetic, though I struggled with the fit as I lost weight for some reason just as I did with the Moxie Brand. I also find I feel more natural looking in half lash band options.
The magnetic option did last me for a long time until I started to thin down the summer of 2022 and no longer could get them to stick. Even brand new ones! So a dear friend got me a gift card for my birthday in August at a local spa and I decided to give the lash lift an tint a try from their service options. Now the service was great and did give me amazing results but they only last for 6 to 8 weeks and can damage your lashes over time because its essentially like a perm to your eye lash. Not to mention it takes an hour to two ours to have done, and of course its costly comparatively. So now enter Liliac Street at home lash extensions. Which you use a glue to attach thin banded lashes to the underside of your lashes, and they can last for about a week at a time. But this too after about 2 months a bit of a chore to up keep for me. I am pretty low maintenance, and I seem to subconsicely hate when I know I have something on m that's not a part of my natural body. But if your not bothered by them I highly recommend them as they do give a great look for an affotbale price and are not hard to put on.
After trying a few false lash options and not settling on one I loved to up keep long term, I stumbled upon a certain famous viral Tik Tok persona (she may or may not be the Alix Earle LOL) that actually showed me at the age of 35, how to properly curl my eyelashes. And it was a GAME CHANGER. For so long I had thought that my lashes were short or almost non extistent. But by using an eye lash curler, really getting in there and curling them close to the lash line proved me wrong. In addition to that I apply a a lash serum targeted at growth morning and night and also cator oil each morning and night to keep them healthy. Below are a few of my favorite products for my now natural lash routine must haves!
