Camerata Orchestra (advanced intermediate)

NOTE: To be added in a future academic year.

This orchestra provides students with the opportunity to continue developing advanced skills necessary for future success in high school orchestra ensembles. Classroom instruction involves expanding technique, introduction to upper positions, developing vibrato, improving tone quality, learning various bowing styles, and building sight-reading skills. This is a competing orchestra at the varsity level. Placement in this ensemble is determined by audition.

Additional performance opportunities include All-Region/All-State Orchestra (audition encouraged), orchestra festival contests (required), and the Keller ISD Solo/Ensemble Festival (required). Participation in private lessons is strongly encouraged.

Intermezzo Orchestra (intermediate)

This orchestra provides students with the opportunity to continue developing intermediate skills necessary for future success in high school orchestra ensembles. Classroom instruction involves expanding technique, introduction to upper positions, developing vibrato, improving tone quality, learning various bowing styles, and building sight-reading skills. This is a competing orchestra at the sub-non-varsity level. Placement in this ensemble is determined by audition.

Additional performance opportunities include orchestra festival contests and the Keller ISD Orchestra Solo/Ensemble Festival. Participation in private lessons is strongly encouraged.

Concert Orchestra (beginning)

This beginning orchestra provides students with the opportunity to develop fundamental skills necessary for future success at the intermediate level. This class is designed for students who have no previous string experience. An audition is not required to enroll in this ensemble.

Classroom instruction begins with basic setup, introductory playing techniques, and learning to read standard music notation. In the second semester, students are introduced to additional playing positions, improving tone quality, learning various bowing styles, and building sight-reading skills. Participation in private lessons is strongly encouraged.
