Dear Florence Falcon Families,
As we "fall" into November, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the exciting and inspiring events that have taken place here this past week at Florence Elementary School!
We wrapped up October with our Character Awards Assembly, where we recognized students for showing responsibility, celebrating the hard work and good choices our students are making every day. One of the highlights of the assembly was the “Shake It Off” Post-It Note Game and our grade level spirit chants! A special shout-out also goes to our 3rd grade students who earned our Spirit Award! Way to go, 3rd grade!
Our Storybook Character Day celebration was a wonderful opportunity for students to show off their creativity as they dressed up as their favorite storybook characters. The excitement and joy were palpable as the students paraded outside and we had beautiful weather for it! The creativity on display was truly inspiring, and students were excited to engage in activities related to their books! Thank you to all of our families for supporting this special day and in creating magic across our school!
You may have noticed that our gardens are looking incredible thanks to our PTA Garden Club volunteers and Landscape Systems Garden Center who donated many plants to enhance our campus, creating a welcoming, neat, and beautiful landscape for our school!
In addition to these celebrations, we had the privilege of hosting several Keller ISD principals and assistant principals on our campus. These administrators visited our classrooms as part of the Teacher Incentive Allotment preparations and administrator calibration trainings. During their visit, they observed classrooms filled with high levels of engagement, strong classroom cultures, and teachers working hard to meet the unique needs of each student. Our teachers are doing an amazing job creating fun, engaging lessons that challenge our students while maintaining high expectations. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the incredible teaching and learning that is happening every day at our school.
As we adjust to the time change and “fall back” into November, we look forward to another month of continued excellence in guiding our students to SHINE (Strive, Honor, Inspire Nurture and Elevate) during this second 9 weeks! Thank you for your continued support in making this an exceptional school year!
In Falcon Spirit,
Courtney Brandel
Principal, Florence Elementary
We wrapped up our Red Ribbon month with our storybook character parade, some red ribbon prizes and our character assembly!
During the first 9 weeks, these students demonstrated the character trait of responsibility and were selected by their classmates as the student in their class who demonstrated this trait. These students were recognized during our 1st 9 weeks assembly. Congratulations and great job, students!

"Since the beginning of the year, we have been so impressed by our child’s second grade teacher, Mrs. Howard. She has so much patience, and goes above and beyond to communicate with parents and provide updates or extra work or books that would engage the class. For Halloween, she even had special themed items like spider rings and eyeballs to engage the kids- so fun! Our child has needed extra love this year, and she has provided that in abundance. When she noticed an improvement in his reading, she sent a kind note to us letting us know how well he was doing and shared with our child that she had done so. When he got home from school, he asked if I had checked my messages and that his teacher had sent a special one and to check. He was thrilled that his teacher had sent home a book for him that “he was really good at” reading, according to him. While he does not normally get excited to read, he immediately pulled it out to begin reading to his mom and dad. We are thankful for her inspiring him to enjoy something that is challenging for him and taking the time to be so encouraging to both the child and the parent. We think she is a Fabulous Falcon!"- Alli, Parent
We were excited to honor 3 of our amazing teachers who earned the FES Golden Egg during our first 9 weeks assembly! These amazing ladies were nominated by their colleagues for showing their "Heart at Work" and going above and beyond!
