Passkey Setup Guide (Android)

You must register biometric authentication on your Android device in advance.

1. Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication (Google Password Manager)

Note: During registration, the passkey will be linked to the Google account currently logged into your browser. Please ensure beforehand that you are logged into the account you intend to use.

For Android devices, the Google account registered to the device takes priority. If you select and register your keio.jp Google account, you will not be able to authenticate if you log out of that account, unless you have another authentication factor set up.

For explanations regarding the images in each step, please refer to the text provided to the right of or directly below the respective image.

1.1. Log into keio.jp

Log into keio.jp using a web browser on your smartphone, and then access the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) setup page ( https://keio.okta.com/enduser/settings ).

Tap "Set up" in the "Security Key or Biometric Authenticator" section.

Note: When registering a second or subsequent passkey, the label for the "Security Key or Biometric Authenticator" section will change to "Passkey."

Access keio.jp using a web browser on your smartphone, and log in with your keio.jp account (ID and password).

1.2. Verify your identity using a security method

Please use one of the standard authentication factors you registered for daily use.

If the device you are currently using does not have any available standard authentication factors, please use phone authentication instead.

If an unintended authentication factor is displayed, click on "Verify with something else" and select the specific authentication factor you wish to use.

1.3. Set up security methods

Tap "Set up."

Tap "Set up" in the "Passkey" section.

1.4. Setting up a passkey

Tap "Set up."

1.5. Create a passkey in Google Password Manager

Authenticate using facial recognition or your fingerprint in Password Manager.

You will be prompted for face, fingerprint, or PIN; once authenticated, "Done" will be displayed.

*When registering, the account will be linked to the Google account currently logged into your browser.

Please ensure beforehand that you are logged in with the account you wish to register.

On Android devices, the Google account registered to the device will take priority.

If you register using a keio.jp Google account, please be aware that once you log out, you will be unable to authenticate without an additional authentication factor.

1.6. Check MFA settings

Once authentication is successful, the screen will automatically transition, and the authentication factor will be registered.

We recommend setting a nickname so you can easily distinguish between your accounts and devices.

If the "Continue" button is displayed at the bottom of the security method setup screen, the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) setup using Google Password Manager is complete. You can log into keio.jp by tapping "Continue."

If you have only registered one factor, please register an additional authentication factor.

To make it easier to distinguish between your accounts and devices, we recommend setting up a nickname on the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) setup page.

Please Note:

It is possible to register multiple passkeys for the same device or account.
If you delete the most recent passkey, you will no longer be able to log in, even if the setting still appears to be active.
When deleting a passkey, please check the registration date and time of the security methods on the multi-factor authentication (MFA) settings page, and ensure you only delete the older entries.
