In the exploratory classes there will be very little homework. If a student has homework it is likely because they did not finish their assignments in class.
For the academic classes, there will be homework on occasion. The amount will vary and students will have time to start it during class on most days. Students are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to create HANDWRITTEN flashcards and then USE THEM. There is a lot of data that supports the linking of learning and handwriting. This is especially important when learning a new language. Students are also encouraged to listen to French music, watch French programs like "C'est pas sorcier" or "Trotro" on YouTube, and find opportunities listen to others speaking French. All of these will enable them to learn quicker.
Students who have French-speaking family members - from France, Canada, New England, Africa, etc. - there is NO "WRONG" FRENCH! Each person has an accent that they grew up with. Each is valuable! I will introduce our classes to the ways we said things in French growing up, how it's said in different regions, and finally how it's taught as "International French" which is the French that is spoken at the United Nations.
Please, Do NOT panic! I am here to help you learn, grow, and succeed! If you don't understand something, please believe in the power of YET! You don't understand it YET. You can't speak it YET. You will get there and I will help you.
Never forget I am here to help you! Let me know what YOU need to feel successful and more in control of your learning. ☺
