If you choose to take French starting in the eighth grade, FÉLICITATIONS! You've made a GREAT choice! This course is primarily designed by YOU! We will learn the basics: greetings and expressions of courtesy, family and friends, and ordering in a restaurant, etc. The rest is up to you! What do YOU want to learn?
From February until April break, ALL French students participate in Manie Musicale - which is a competition that pits different French songs against each other. Throughout the year, you will be encouraged to listen to music - en français, and share those songs with me. We will explore the meanings and have discussions about these songs. You may even decide to create a lip sync video or some artwork of one of the songs that may be shown to students all across the globe!
This class is as fun as YOU make it!
When you have completed this course, you will have a solid base for going into French I at the high school level.
From Atlas Rubicon: This course introduces students to the French language and the cultures of various French-speaking parts of the world. This course will give students a support for taking French 1 at the high school. Students develop the course as it progresses, and chose the majority of the projects and content that is taught. This is meant to be an interactive course, and as such, the units mentioned, are fluid and will change as the students determine their next course of action. This course is primarily project based learning. At any one time, there may be many different projects going on at the same time and the students share their knowledge gained with each other.
