In December, the Kindergarteners have been continuing their unit on Steady Beat! We have moved to a steady beat and played lots of instruments to the beat including claves, boomwhackers, hand drums, sound shapes, bongos, and a cajon. We have also learned about rhythm and we are able to differentiate between the rhythm and a steady beat of a song! We labeled ta and ti-ti, the Kodaly rhythm syllables that represent a quarter and eighth notes, and created our own rhythms. We have learned the songs: Funga Alafia, Johnny Works With One Hammer, Listen As I Play the Beat, and Orange Pear Apple Bear. In Early Childhood, we have been doing a lot of expressive movement to classical music using scarves and stretchy bands!
