Rotary clubs can grow their membership by focusing on both outreach and member engagement. Hosting community events and service projects that are visible to the public helps attract new potential members, especially when coupled with active promotion through social media and local media outlets. Inviting guests to meetings, organizing "bring a friend" days, or hosting open houses gives people a chance to experience the club’s mission firsthand. Offering flexible membership options, creating mentorship opportunities, and embracing technology to accommodate younger or busy professionals can also make the club more accessible. At the same time, fostering a positive, inclusive club culture that values members' contributions and offers meaningful personal and professional development is key to retaining and growing membership long-term.
One of the best ways to GROW your club is to form a satellite club. They are part of your club; their members are considered your members. Sponsor clubs have the control to decide when the satellite club meets, whether they participate in the same fundraisers and service projects or have separate events. If your club meets at Noon for lunch (27 clubs in the district are lunch clubs), you can possibly improve your engagement of members and attract new members by offering a satellite club meeting at 7:30am breakfast meeting or a 6pm evening meeting. Satellite clubs can meet once or twice a month. There are currently 5 satellite clubs in our district and their average age is about 10-15 years younger than their sponsor clubs. There are also financial incentives to start a satellite club, specifically, new satellite members to Rotary do not pay district dues for 2 years and the sponsor clubs get their PETS fee waived in the first year of the satellite club. There are so many advantages of a satellite clubs that sponsor clubs can take advantage of, whether you start one in your own town at a different meeting time, or in an adjacent geography that does not have a Rotary club, or perhaps used to have a Rotary club. In District 7210, we believe service and fellowship should always be enjoyable, and our club meetings should reflect that every week! Lively discussions, engaging activities, and laughter are key to a successful club, creating a welcoming atmosphere where members feel connected and energized.
One of the highlights of a club meeting can be the lineup of guest speakers who bring fresh insights on various topics. From local leaders to global experts, speakers should spark a lively conversation and inspire new ideas.
With a mix of fun, learning, and meaningful service, Rotary club meetings are something members should look forward to. We’re building stronger friendships while making a difference—together!
Let us know what we can do to help your club.

As we prepare for next weeks Town Hall on Membership, here are some thought starters-
Frequency of Membership Discussions:
How often does your club focus on membership growth and engagement? Regular discussions can keep these goals at the forefront of your club’s activities.
Consider scheduling a monthly or quarterly review specifically dedicated to membership strategies.
Membership Champion or Committee:
Does your club have a designated membership chair or committee? Having a dedicated person or team can lead to more consistent and focused efforts.
Encourage a collaborative approach where all members feel empowered to bring in new members and guests.
Engagement During Projects and Fundraisers:
Are your service projects and fundraisers seen as opportunities to attract new members? These activities often draw community attention, making them perfect moments to showcase the club.
Consider assigning someone to specifically engage with potential members during these events.
Creativity in Membership Growth:
Are you using creative methods to attract and retain members? Think about unique events, partnerships with local businesses, or themed meetings that might draw in new people.
Innovation in your approach can differentiate your club from others.
Member Retention Strategies:
Does someone in your club reach out to members who have missed several meetings? Personal follow-ups show care and may uncover reasons for disengagement that can be addressed.
Regular check-ins can prevent members from slipping away unnoticed.
Membership Incentives:
Have you considered business or corporate memberships? These can attract organizations interested in community involvement and networking opportunities.
Offering marital or partner discounts can also make membership more accessible and appealing.
Support from the Membership Committee:
Remind club members that they have support from the Membership Committee, Assistant Governor, and Governor Team. Encourage them to take advantage of this support when trying out new strategies.
Would you like to explore any of these ideas further or brainstorm additional strategies for your club?

The District Executive Board is pleased to announce the continuance of the incentive program in the
2024/2025 Rotary year including some changes to the previous policy Here are the details:
1. NEW CLUB FORMATION: Our District will waive the District dues ($49) for the first two full years of
the new Club (upon prior written request and documentation from the Club) for all members who are
new to Rotary within the current year and join a newly formed Club or Satellite Club. Existing Club
members that transfer into a new Club or Satellite Club are not eligible for this dues waiver. New Clubs
will need at least twenty members to charter. Satellite Clubs, which are an extension of an existing Club,
require only eight members and can choose to charter when they reach 20 members or continue as a
Satellite Club. New Rotaract Clubs are not eligible for this program since RI sets their dues structure at a
minimal amount.
2. BENEFITS FOR THE SPONSORING CLUB: For any existing Club that sponsors a new Club or Satellite
Club, the District will waive the District PETS training assessment fee of $525 upon prior written request
from the sponsor Club for the year after the new or Satellite Club is formed.
3. DUES DISCOUNT: For new and existing members, our District will reduce the District dues (upon prior
written request and documentation from the Club) by 50% for any Club’s members under the age of 45.
The discount will not apply if the member turns 45 years old during the 2024/2025 Rotary year.
To qualify for these incentives, Club’s must send an email to the District Membership Chair prior to June
30 requesting the Dues Discount and 100% of your Club’s members must have their birthdates entered
in ClubRunner.
This incentive program will be evaluated at the end of each Rotary year to determine if the incentive
program should be continued in its current form or not.
We hope these incentives will assist our Clubs in seeking new Satellite Clubs and members under 45. We
are focusing on ways to encourage new Club growth while promoting membership attraction and
engagement. We will continue to communicate with Clubs on GROWING ROTARY initiatives in District
7210! Please let me or District Membership Chair Tony Marmo know if you have any questions.
Thank you for your service to Rotary!
