Separation of Powers oversimplified
Government powers are divided among the legislative, executive and judicial branches (3 Branches of Government).
The legislative branch is congress. This branch of the government makes laws. The legislative branch is a bicameral legislative, which it is divided into two houses; The United States Senate and The House of Representatives.
The executive branch is where we find the president of the United States (POTUS). This branch enforces or executes the laws, or carrying them out.
The judicial branch is the Supreme Court Justices. The job of this branch is to interpret the laws and explain what they mean. There are a total of nine supreme court justices.
