1) If a teacher has a concern about a student, the teacher will check with Mrs. Schumacher regarding her availability, if available, the teacher may send the student to Mrs. Schumacher’s office. Students should not be sent, without teacher notification, or go on their own if on a hall/bathroom break, to see if Mrs. Schumacher is free.
2) Safety always comes first, Mrs. Schumacher will follow all building safety protocols at all times with students.
3) Only one student will be permitted in the counselor’s office at a time (No longer seeing groups of students due to safety guidelines).
4) If a student asks a teacher if s/he can see the counselor (non- emergency / non-teacher concern) the student should be encouraged to email Mrs. Schumacher directly at hschumacher@kasd.org. Mrs. Schumacher will get back to the student and schedule a time to meet.
URGENT, if a student shares that s/he is being harmed, or wants to harm self or others, contact Mrs. Schumacher or Mr. Brown immediately.
