Whole School Distance Learning

Here are some distant learning activities for your children to use on Monday and Tuesday next week while in Level 4 Lockdown. . After that your child/ren will be able to click onto the class they are in for their distant learning. Teachers will set up Zoom meetings with their class from Wednesday onwards. This site offers levelled reading books online. There are also follow up activities linked to the stories. If you ask your children many of them will know what level they are reading at. Explore the site as it also has some fun spelling and math resources that are printable.

Here are some ideas of things you could do during Lockdown! Have fun!

  • Technology - design a bridge, car, make things on different angles - see how long it takes to fall over or sink.

  • Science - make a volcano, gloop, slime, putting dye in cups and a flower from the garden - watch and see what happens, mix colours, make playdough.

  • Write out letters of the alphabet and get your child to copy correctly underneath it.

  • Colouring

  • Lego - what can you create that is different - a robot, truck, castle.

  • Puzzles - if you don’t have any then you could download a puzzle app

  • Cutting pictures from junk mail, magazines, newspapers - make a card, collage.

  • Write a shopping list with a budget. Use the countdown website to research costs of different things.

  • Board games - snakes and ladders, cluedo, monopoly, draughts, cards etc.

  • Make a book - what I do at home while not at school.

  • Look at a book - retell the story using words - and, because to explain it.

  • Read to a toy or your pet

  • Make up a play or a dance and present it to others.

  • Dress ups - make some of your own making sure you ask others first.

  • Bake with an adult.

  • Jack Hartman - kids music channel on - you tube - maths counting songs, fitness songs, colour and shape songs, alphabet songs, fun and crazy songs we do in class - ask them which ones are their favourite.

  • Outside activities could include - tidying the garden with adults, making a tent with blankets or old sheets, build a hut,

  • Make something out of recycled things.

  • Make a model of your teacher - be kind. Make an alien out of anything interesting.

  • Create an autumn collage - collect some leaves if possible.

  • Kick a ball to each other staying apart and see who can score the most goals.

  • Hide and seek inside or outside.

  • Fitness exercises or activities on video links or TV on demand.

  • Skipping

  • Do some measuring using water, sand or rice - work out 1/4's 1/2's and 1 whole - this can be used for making things eg baking, sharing play dough

  • Scavenger Hunt - inside or outside
