Lunch

The Kindergarten serves as much locally produced organic food as possible. We ensure our daily lunch menu is prepared with enough protein as much as possible to enhance the growth and development of the children in our Kindergarten and under our care.

We serve a variety of dishes which makes our menu very international.

Food supplies are bought from local retailers, and we make every effort to provide the children with as much organic produce as is available.

Our hot lunches are freshly made every morning and served to the children straight from the oven. Once every week, our cook bakes fresh healthy bread for the children.

Food morning circle (Fruits, Vegetables and the like)

As part of the Montessori methodologies, sensorial - tasting and sensorial - touching is part of the learning themes. To enforce this, we have over the years organised on every other week specifically on Wednesdays, fruit morning circle and vegetable morning circle with the children. The other Weeks on Wednesdays are for baking. We buy all kinds of fruits, vegetables and other food products , discuss about those items with the children, cut together and taste. This is done on every other Wednesdays.

Baking

We bake with the children on every other week when there is no Food morning circles. We bake a variety of things making it very international. We bake things that represents the Finnish culture, Asian culture, Swedish culture, African culture, British culture, Spanish culture and the like. This is done on every other Wednesdays where the other Wednesdays are for Food morning circles.

Afternoon snack

We serve a variety of healthy snacks to the children after our outdoor park hours. Children are involved in the preparation of snack except for porridge which is prepared on the oven. The snacks vary from healthy fruits, healthy wheat products, healthy grain products, crackers, healthy breads, vegetables and the like.

In Autumn and Winter, we serve warm / hot drinks to the children during our outdoor park hours. In Winter and Summer , we serve cold drinks and slight snack during the outdoor park hours.

Go home snack

We have an old tradition of offering children ‘go home snack’ when they are picked up between 16.00-17.00
