Materials – To run this test we will need our mask and a person.

Hazard: not following the guidelines leading to possible exposure to COVID-19
Test Termination – This test will be terminated after we receive all comments/feedback on the mask.
Stepwise Procedure
1. All materials are on hand
2. All initial conditions have been verified.
3. All participants are familiar with safety procedures.
4. Mask will be placed on participant’s face, resting on their nose and down to the chin.
5. The expert will then determine if it is okay to wear during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Purpose – To insure when placed in the washing machine, the mask will still be wearable and effective.
Pass Criteria – We will wash the mask for 3 cycles in the washing machine to make sure that the stitches stay in place and that it does not fall apart. 90% of the stitches have to be in place after the 3 cycles.
Materials – We will need the mask and a washing machine.

Hazard: There really aren’t any hazards
Test Termination – This test will be terminated after the washing machine finishes its cycle.
Stepwise Procedure
1. All materials are on hand
2. All initial conditions have been verified.
3. All participants are familiar with safety procedures.
4. Mask will be placed in the washing machine
5. After the first cycle check if stitches are still in place and are holding properly
7. Do this again for the other two cycles
6. Record if the stitches are holding or falling apart
Purpose –To make sure that the mask is acceptable weight and size, so that the mask covers the nose and mouth area without having to be heavy.
Pass Criteria-We will test the mask by weighing it with a scale and measuring it with a ruler to make sure that it is the correct size and weight. The mask has to be 7 inches wide and 3 inches long and has to weigh around 0.2-0.5 mg.
Materials- For this test we will need the mask materials, a scale to weigh, and a ruler to measure the size of the mask.
Initial Conditions – We will need to be sure that the mask is fully completed and sewed together.
Safety Concerns
Hazard: The mask being too heavy for the participant to wear and ends up irritating the user.
Test Termination – Don’t think this test will have a test termination unless it doesn’t reach the requirements.
Stepwise Procedure

4. Put the mask on the scale
5. See how much it weighs
6. Record the weight
7. Do this again to get accurate reading
8. Get ruler and measure how long and how wide it is
9. Record and analyze the data
Purpose – to check with stakeholders to see if they find our mask pleasing the eye
Pass Criteria – In order to consider this factor a pass, 70% of people surveyed must agree that our mask is aesthetically pleasing. We aim to survey at least 50 people since that is close to the number of people from the initial survey.

Initial Conditions – We will need to have our completed mask. We will also need a completed survey using google forms. We will likely have to create a slip with a QR code to distribute to other students at PLTW Core Training or through social media.

4. Create a survey using google forms that asks the following questions:
a. Do you find this mask aesthetically pleasing?
b. Would you buy this mask for yourself if it was promised to help with acne breakouts due to wearing certain masks?
5. Create a link to share
6. Distribute link to people through social media and zoom classes
7. Use the data collected from the survey (google forms will do this for us) to analyze the results
Data - Google forms will create pie charts of the data for us to make it easy to analyze.
Purpose – to see if the mask is comfortable on the user’s face for a significant amount of time.
Pass Criteria – The mask will be comfortable to wear for 3 or more hours for 2 or more people.
Materials - mask and the person who is going to wear the mask.
Initial Conditions – We will need a person and a place for them to wear it for multiple hours such as school or work.
Safety Concerns
Hazard: a malfunction with the mask during use
Test Termination – If the person doesn’t like it, it is uncomfortable, and it is hard to breathe in.
Stepwise Procedure
