The Freezing Storm

“It’s nearing closer, I can feel it, the wind is becoming stronger the rain is crashing down” Echo explained trying to act as dauntless as she could. Echo was a very brave girl, not afraid of much, but this tragedy scared everyone, because Florida had never experienced anything quite like this before

It all started on day when Dr. Cullen was testing new weapons and gasses in case there was an invasion from another country. He was nearing quite close to find the perfect mixture for a fatal weapon, when all the sudden the weapon went off. It was nothing quite like anyone has ever seen or imagined of before. The temperature and compounds of the gas was released into the air. It reacted with the humid air very terribly, it caused the air to become cold icy. The mixture created a giant could front. Since there had been so much of the gas in the area the temperatures were becoming colder over time.

March 27th, 2005, (Chapter One)

The wind is getting strong we must evacuate, it’s no longer safe here, this is the harshest cold front in history in Florida, the temperatures are just becoming colder and colder every month, well I must make sure I don’t miss the plane, I hope everything will be alright.

Echo put her journal down to start and gather everything the needed to take with her. “Come on Echo we need to get out of here so that the plane doesn’t leave us, then we will be stuck here” Yelled her sister Baily. Echo quickly threw her journal, some pencils, a few pairs of clothes, and her phone and charger and threw it all in her suitcase and ran downstairs.

Her family quickly rushed out to baker field where the planes were gathering everyone on to evacuate to western Australia. They got there just in time before the planes took off.

They all rushed on and sat down. As the plane was taking off Her little sister Polly started bawling “I don’t want to leave, why are we leaving my home?”. Echo hugged Polly tight “It will be ok Polly, we have to leave for now, but we will come back” “……. Someday” she whispered under her breath.

Well there is no turning back now we are already soaring in the air on the plane. It’s hard to see the city from all the dark and dreary clouds that the storm Is causing, but I can vaguely see the outline of our school and the city park and I can see the little speck that is the froyo shop me and my friends would go hang out at after school. We took everything for granted then and didn’t think much about it, now that we must leave it all behind I wish I could sit and laugh over frozen yogurt with my friends one last time. The piolet is giving us directions so that we are all safe on the flight so I should probably listen to them.

She put the journal safely in the back pocket of the seat and tried to listen to the piolet as attentively as she could, even though millions of thoughts were racing through her mind.

A few hours later Echo was calmly looking out her window when the heard a soft “squeeeee” that was continues, she didn’t the much of it because she thought it was most likely just someone’s pet that is scared.

The noise slowly was growing louder over the next two hours. The overhead speakers came on “Everyone must remain calm, but I need to inform you that the temperatures are stronger than expected and they have slowly been causing the motor to stick, we will fly as far as we can but everyone must have their life jackets on at all times in case the plane cannot handle anymore before we reach safer climates”. Immediately after that was said everyone did the opposite of what was first asked, they all started to panic and worry.

The plane motor is slowly sticking, I am trying to stay calm because the more nervous you get the harder it is to process situations and focus. The piolet is trying to fly us to land a quick possible, but there is always the risk that we won’t make it in time.

Everyone was trying very hard to stay calm and just hope for the best, but it is hard to do so when there is always the possibility that they won’t make it in time, and that is something very scary to think about.

It has been decided that the plane won’t make it to shore in time before it crashes so everyone is being told to make sure they have their life jackets on and as the plane is lowered they need to jump and swim away from the plane. The rafts were thrown into the water as the people followed behind.

Everyone could make it off the plane and into the rafts, they started to use the paddle to swim away from the plane as they saw it float in the sky a little longer until it dipped, and then slowly started sinking under the water.

March 28, 2005 (Chapter two)

We have been paddling towards the direction the plane was supposed take us to for hours. There isn’t really much food except for a few snacks that some passengers had grabbed from aboard the plane. The ocean can be a fierce place, and I just hope that there aren’t any more treacherous events before we reach land.

The rafts were slowly going into the right direction of their destination, so far everything had been going smoothly, or as smoothly as an alternative plan can go after a plane crash.

March 29, 2005

Shore was nearing closer and everyone started to paddle franticly. When they reached shore, they realized something didn’t seem right “Wow Australia is more jungle than I thought it would be” A woman said confused “yeah I thought there were more cities here” said a man. The people decided to explorer the island and make out where they were. “Oh, I found a map” yelled a man. “So, if we flew to about here, and paddled to about here, then we should be right here” the man said with confidence. “But that is just ocean, there is no recorded land in that part of the ocean” Stated a woman. “Wait does that mean that we are stuck. On an Island. THAT NOBODY EVEN KNOWS EXISTS?!” Echo yelled in Panic. “I…I…I guess so” the plane piolet nervously mumbled. “well we are going to need to learn how to survive here until we have a way to signal to be rescued or until we have a way to make it to Western Australia”. Everyone agreed with her and started to look for ways to build shelter and looking for food.
