 Kara Dodd

Resource Room Teacher

Pronouns (she/her) Hi, my name is Kara Dodd and I am a Resource Room teacher at Winter Hill. Prior to being a Wildcat, I worked at the East Somerville Community School as a paraprofessional. This is my 7th year in Somerville Public Schools and I am very grateful every year for the opportunity to learn and grow alongside my students. I have a master’s degree in Special Education and I love working through challenges with students and finding creative ways to make learning and growth possible for everyone. When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time outside in nature, cooking new recipes, reading and listening to podcasts.

Maria Nakhtigal

Special Education Teacher

I was raised in Somerville and feel extremely lucky to be working as a teacher here since 1992.  I graduated from Lesley University where I obtained my undergraduate degree and Masters in Special Education.  My dream was to always be a teacher with the philosophy that we are all capable of doing great things no matter the obstacles. To facilitate teaching I integrate mindful practices to make learning a positive experience. In addition to being a teacher I am mom to amazing twin daughters.

Merlisha Theodat

I have been an educator for 10+ years now. I have worked with Somerville for 5 years. This is year 6! I enjoy spending time with family and friends; simply creating memories we can look back on and chuckle about years later.
