I've been an ESL Specialist at Somerville Public Schools for the past five years, mostly working with the elementary grade levels. I've enjoyed every moment of it, and I look forward to every new day with high hopes and expectations for my English Language Learners.

Hello families! My name is Lou DiFante (He/Him/His) and I'm one of the 6th grade newcomer academy teachers along with my co-teacher, Louisa Dodds. I just started teaching at Winter Hill this school year 24-25, but have been a teacher for over 10 years, specifically with multi-lingual learners. I've taught adult education, high school, elementary school, and middle school aged students. I've been able to teach the spectrum of K-12 over my career. 

I studied Communication and Business at University of Rhode Island in 2008 and completed my master's degree in International and Comparative Education in Stockholm, Sweden in 2016. 

I'm passionate about education and working with children because I understand the value a strong education can bring to an individual. 

Some of my hobbies are music/DJing, exercising, biking, golfing, skiing, travelling, dining out, and spending time with friends. I also enjoy reading and various watching TV series and movies.

This is my seventh year teaching at Winter Hill. Prior to teaching at Winter Hill I taught first grade at the East Somerville Community School. Before that I taught in the Cambridge Public Schools. I am an avid runner and beach goer. When I'm not in the classroom I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters. 

Mr. Robert has worked at Winter Hill with newcomer students for many years. He speaks Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Spanish. He has his Masters in Education.
