Calling all 8th graders- Are you interested in learning more about engineering and transportation?
Then, the South Dakota State University’s National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) may be right for you! All selected students will receive scholarship for a week-long residential camp sponsored by South Dakota Department of Transporation. The scholarship will cover the cost of on-campus housing, food and workshops so the camp is free!

Careers Camp:At Our Dakota Dreams Career Exploration Camps, students can take charge of their future and have a blast doing it. Incoming 7th and 8th graders can join a FREE, five-day career camp this summer. They’ll explore exciting careers, meet professionals, and dive into hands-on activities that unleash creativity and ignite passion.
-Camps will be located at the University of South Dakota, Black Hills State University, Dakota State University, Northern State University, and South Dakota State University. Each camp will incorporate a visit to a nearby technical college as well.
-Each camp will accept roughly 100 participants.
-The application is now available. The deadline to apply is March 31.

Archeology Camp
The South Dakota State Historical Society’s State Historic Preservation Office, in conjunction with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is hosting their annual Archeology Camp in Pierre on June 10-12 for students going into grades 4-6. Campers will be introduced to the field of archeology in this active, outdoor experience on a real archeological site. Campers should be prepared to hike, work in dirt, and follow directions from camp leaders and professional archeologists. Registration will open on May 1 at 8 a.m. and will close when the camp is full or on May 3, whichever comes first. The registration fee is $50. View more information on the Archeology Camp 2025 page.
