Counseling groups are offered 2nd semester to provide additional services to learners with common needs and goals. Group counseling provides a supportive envorinment for learners to express their thoughts and feelings about particular topics with their peers. Students complete an interest form to participate in small group counseling. A variety of topics are covered. Groups typically are comprised of 6-8 students and are short term approximately 6 weeks (1 group session per week). If you would like to refer your student for a counseling group please contact MMS Counseling Department.
Potential Small Group Counseling Topics:
___ Would you like to visit with other students who also have family serving in the military?
___ Are you frustrated with rumors/gossip and would like to talk about it?
___ Do you want to talk about getting along better with friends?
___ Do you want to learn how to handle worries, stress or anxiety?
___ Do you want ideas on how to improve your self-esteem and feel better about yourself?
___ Do you need help with managing anger?
___ Would you like to better understand divorce and separation or what it is like when parents remarry?
___ Would you like to learn how to get along with your siblings better?
___ Has someone in your friends or family circle died and you need help coping with grief/loss?
___ Are you affected by alcohol use in your family?
___ Are you struggling with how to balance social media usage, social media comparisons, etc.
