What do I do as the McCook Central K-12 School Counselor

  • Individual and group counseling/interventions and advocacy.

  • Provide support to Mccook Central staff on how to support mental health needs.

  • Screen for mental health concerns and assist with connecting families with services.

  • one-on-one check in sessions with students.

  • Small group sessions to work on improving social skills.

  • Collaborate with counseling agencies- Southeastern Behavioral, Avera Behavioral Health etc.

  • Facilitate the Second Step Curriculum to JK-3rd grade, with 4th-8th grade using the Choose Love Movement Curriculum. These programs focus on Social Emotional Learning. The lessons work through coping skills, social problem-solving, decision-making, school safety, and substance prevention (Middle School)

  • District testing coordinator

  • Teacher assistant team (TAT) Coordinator

My husband is a full-time Nondistructive Inspector for the South Dakota Air National Guard
