When discussing your important qualities or your character, explain how you developed them (experiences, upbringing, hardships, beliefs).

• Example: Hard Working - "I was raised having to complete chores each morning on the farm, which I believe has helped me realize that hard work pays off."

Make sure it is clear to the reader that you are knowledgeable on your chosen career or college by including details within your essay.

• Example: "Although a career in nursing may bring long hours and may be physically demanding, I am confident that this is the correct path for me because...."

They read countless scholarship applications, make sure you find a way to stick out to them! This should be done in a confident, yet humble way by including unique and interesting aspects about yourself and your plans in your essay. Tell a short story that will help catch their attention and remember you during the consideration process. 

• Example: "Becoming a nurse has been a passion of mine from a young age. This became clear to my loved ones when they noticed my preference to play dress up with my nurses uniform and practice my nursing skills on my little brother."
