Welcome to 6th Grade Social Studies!
My name is Mr. Carpenter, and I am excited to welcome you and your child to 6th Grade Social Studies. I have been teaching in the Meade School District (46-1) since 2009. Over the years, I have taught High School Special Education, U.S. History, and U.S. Government, as well as 6th and 8th-grade science and social studies. Prior to returning to Meade 46-1, I taught in Pierre and the Twin Cities area.
My goal this year is to support your child’s growth as a student while building a strong foundation in World History. We will be using the district-selected textbook, World History: Voices and Perspectives by McGraw-Hill. This course focuses on the origins of civilizations and how early societies shaped the modern world.
I follow all 6th-grade and Stagebarn Middle School academic and behavior policies. Consistency and clear expectations are essential for helping learning flourish.
During the first trimester, quizzes and tests will be open-book. In trimesters two and three, quizzes will remain open-book, while tests will be closed-book.
