WHIP It UP: WHIP = West Hawaiʻi Inclusive Practices
In the last sped update, the Difficult Conversations Planning Tool was highlighted to support an articulated
approach to problem-solving co-teaching issues. Below is another tool that will facilitate solving
student-centered problems and build positive collaborative relationships. This resource was found in
The 30 Days to the Co-Taught Classroom Book.
Situation-Clearly define the problem.
Options-Generate a wide range of possible solutions. There should be no judgements in this brainstorming
phase. All possible solutions should be listed at this point.
Decision-Look at the advantages and disadvantages for each option suggested. Choose an option to try first, but
keep the list in case the first choice doesn’t work.
Asses-Decide on a process or tool to assess progress and success.
